Sen beni çok yalnız bırakıyorsun biliyor musun?

Keşke beni yalnız bırakmasan.

En çok bilen en çok giden,

Bu değişmeyen bir neden…

Yine beni bilmesen ama

Keşke beni yalnız bırakmasan…

Gördüğün kadar değil,

Görmek istediğin kadar.

Yitip gidiyor azar azar

Sanki giden zaman anlamadan,

Keşke beni yalnız bırakmasan.

Keşke kollarıma sarılmasam,

Beni biraz anlasan!

Keşke beni yalnız bırakmasan….

Death Hearts

Yesterday I came across a song that I forgot long time ago. The song’s name is Death Hearts by Stars. I remember that I listened this song when I was in highschool. I don’t think that I understand meaning of it at that time. This isn’t the first time that I listen to it but this is the first time I understand how deep it is. Thats really suprising to see how a song can defeat you in 3.26 minutes. The song is talking about “death hearts” and this metaphor reminds me people who I know or who I see around me. The “ghosts” and “dead hearts” are your dreams, your old self and people around you.

“They were kids that i once knew…Now they’re all dead hearts to you”

This part seems to be a loss of childhood and its innocence that you once had and all of us long for again. They are dead because older you no longer exist. We all know that death hearts because we are one of them.

“Did you hear the closing windows? Did you hear the slamming doors?”

These limes remind me the opportunuties that we pass through our lives because we are young and ignorant. We are so blind that we don’t even understand that they pass. It also reminds me the endings of all kinds of relationships. When you and people in your life move on, everything has changed. As the song said “They moved forward my heart died”. Ask yourself if you even saw it all coming, if you even saw the windows being closed and the doors being shut by the people that you loved, who moved forward without you. Is the only reason you?

“What was it like? What did they look like?” As they change so much in time, it becomes hard to remember what were they like. You think, you once knew them so well when you were so optimistic about everything as if you were like children, then everything ends when you find that you know nothing about them. Not only this, you also aware that even you know nothing about yourself at all and you forget what were they like, how did you feel about them, what did they look like.

There are lots of issues you can fimd in this song. I always thought it was about love when I was a teenager. But now I understand it is about living people with dead hearts, people who used to have dreams but never really got the chance to fulfill them.

“Kids that I once knew” makes you aware that know these people personally; you know what they wanted in life and are sad that they didn’t get it.

“It’s hard to know they’re out there, It’s hard to know that you still care” might mean that you don’t really recognize these people anymore. Now they are people that once you knew. Perhaps they’ve accepted to sit with their hearts dead. It hard to know whether they awares their death hearts or not.

This song is worth to be explored and think on it. If you come across this song one day, listen its lyrics well. Who knows, maybe you become aware of your death heart and make it alive again.

Being a Barbie in a plastic world

I was a special child. This is not kind of cliché that people say that you are special. It was real.

We are living as Barbie with same clothes, same outlooks etc. in a dollhouse. As if it makes us happy, we make more plastic surgeries to be like each other. We just imitating what are the popular to be accepted by the majority without asking ourselves ‘Do we really want to do this’ or ‘Are we happy?’. That’s why most of the people suffer from depression and anxiety because we force ourselves to act like someone who is totally different from our real self. I do not believe the understanding that every person is special because in a plastic world everyone is similar to each other and nobody can be special among these artifacts. Everyone is created with million analog by raw materials as mass production. The thing that makes me special is seen at this point. I never have stable mood and always have difficulties to achieve the balance of my soul. This makes me differ from mass product because I am one of the last standings who still have the feelings to escape from plastic world’s compulsions. Those compulsions decide what we believe, our fate and our way of thinking instead of us. We are labelled by the plastic rules and forced to live under its rules. By this way our present, past and future is coded on us.

All you need is love

Nothing you can make that can’t be made
No one you can save that can’t be saved
Nothing you can do, but you can learn how to be you in time
It’s easy; All you need is love

-The Beatles/ All You Need Is Love

Each of us has a past. Some of us were physically abused, some had violent parents, some had messed up love stories.

Some had been forced into sex in the name of love.

Again in the name of love some of us locked behind the doors.

Some were raped, some were blackmailed by their ex-boyfriend.

Some of us imprisoned into abusive relationships just to be loved or just because of the lack of love.

Each of us has different issues.

If you see any one who deal with any of these and masked her sorrows with a broken smile, stood and fearlessly walk through the future, do not judge her with her past or do not expose her more abuse.

Let them know how lovely they are and how strong their hopes are!

You can be one of this women. This woman could be the woman next door or from a different home. She could be your own friend, sister, your girlfriend, your wife or your mother.

Do not judge them or yourself.

Just hold your hands against the world!

Give the love all we yearned for!

All we need is love and all cure is love!

May We Meet Again

“These violent delights have violent ends And in their triump die, like fire and powder Which, as they kiss, consume”

William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet

One day,

In the right time,

May we meet again…

May we meet again

In another life,

In another time,

In another universe…

In a universe that let us to be together…

In another universe,

May we have already met

And smile the picture of us

That is broken before its time.

Our hearts are together

But it is not the right time for hands.

It is time to say goodbye,

But it is hard to say goodbye.

So just with a broken smile,

We watched the starry night,

The universe that we could be together.

Start with violent delight,

End as it starts,

Like fire and powder

That consumes together.

It is not right time for us,

Knowing that

Makes it impossible to

Hold on possibilities.

Saluting us that are together

In another universe.

We just passing each other

With the hope that

May we meet again…

Welcome to the 21st century!

Welcome to the 21st century where losing phone is worse than losing your values. Smoke, drugs, drink and losing values… All of them are popular here. If you don’t conform this popularity, you are labelled with being narrow minded and become outcast or misfit.

Everyone complains about mobbing but they do it.

Welcome to the 21st! All we are is fake perspective of life. Popularity is core of life in this century. That’s why social media tells you how to live your life. Every moment are organized to take good photos. All the favors are done to show off. Our humanity is changed by fakeness. Everything fake and we convince ourselves by believing that this fakeness is perfect.

Welcome to the 21st century! There is no room for emotions or emotional. Tendency is considered as weakness because values turn around material possessions and material comfort becomes more important than spiritual values. If you act with your heart, you are destroyed. Because having money is more important than having friends or even family.  People decide your value by looking logo of your clothes.

Welcome to the 21st century! Love is a myth here. It is a thing that couples want without obligations. Here people cheat on each other with fake smiles. Nobody cares or encourages nobody in this glorious century. People try to let you down instead of inspiring you.  Lots of fake face hides their real self.

Dear passenger,

Welcome to the 21st century! We need to change it urgently.

What Does Lewis Carroll Mean with “We’re All Mad Here”?

“But I don’t want to go among mad people,” Alice remarked.

“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”

“How do you know I’m mad?” said Alice.

“You must be,” said the Cat, “or you wouldn’t have come here.”

Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

This is one of my favorite quotes because it has deeper meaning than it is seen. If you just read it without thinking deeply, you understand that Carroll refers that everyone is mad. Because it is okay to be mad and peculiarity or craziness is the ‘normal’ in Wonderland. If you are not crazy or peculiar than you are not normal. After make the understanding of normality clear, it can be questioned that what does Carroll mean with this quote? Lewis Carroll is one of the rare people that see the world in a different way. He is one of the people that are seen as different by the others. So I mean he is strange on the surface.

I believe Carroll gives a message to children in this quote. As you know his books are mostly read by the children, Carroll tells them to be who they are and if they are pushed out of the society or called as misfit because of this, then that’s alright. Through the eyes of the society, one who does not conform their rules and their understanding of normal, are labelled as ‘mad’. If something is different or new to us, we tend not to like it. That’s why the White Rabbit, who let children down the rabbit hole, makes them curious and critical thinker who questions the normality of the society is always excluded in real life. To be you against the impositions of the majority and to be brave enough to search for truth, the journey through Wonderland are more important than adjust the others. For this reason you should not be sad about being an outcast that you are brave to follow the White Rabbit. Because who determines the normal? What is the normal? In dictionary it is defined as ‘conforming to the standard or the common type; usual; not abnormal; regular; natural’.  This definition is the opposite of everything in Wonderland. If you look whole picture from far out, you probably see regular and natural lands with regular and natural people. But if you look closer and examine them closely, you learn that things going in that world are not as normal as you think. You would see world is a little bit crazy and in fact none of it is normal, none of us are normal. Thanks to Carroll, we relieve by knowing that ‘we are all mad here’

Why Do We Keep Waiting for Godot?

ESTRAGON: Let’s go!
VLADIMIR: We can’t.
ESTRAGON: Why not?
VLADIMIR: We’re waiting for Godot.
ESTRAGON: (despairingly) Ah!

-Samuel Beckett/ Waiting for Godot

While watching the sea, I start to think about what is the meaning of life and this question brings to my mind Beckett’s play ‘Waiting for Godot’. Play is about two homeless old men who wait in a bare road with a single tree. They are in no particular time or any certain place. They are in nowhere and everywhere. Just like us, we are in everywhere and nowhere in the universe. Over two days they argue, get bored, clown around, repeat them, contemplate suicide, and wait. Their actions reflect periods of life that most of us faced. We experience lots of things through the lifetime. We love, hate, become happy, sometimes we feel that being choked but life still goes on. Human being always finds a reason to move on. Even if this reason is waiting for the one who will never come. In another saying all we are waiting for Godot just like Vladimir and Estragon.

Actually it is my favorite play because this play has something that has hidden meaning inside. Through our lives, we wait something without knowing what we are waiting for. In this play Estragon and Vladimir are kind of reflection of all humankind.  Most of the critics focus on the Godot and what it might symbolize. However they miss the point that the matter is not Godot but act of waiting. Their waiting questions the existence and nothingness, life and death, time and timelessness, getting into the action or not. At this point it reminds us the question of Shakespeare in his famous play which summarizes main theme of the play ‘’ To be or not to be’’. This play is the question of the life and it’s meaningless. Besides questioning life, it questions the reason why we keep on waiting for something or somebody. Vladimir and Estragon try to find out a reason to keep going on their life as all the living creatures in this world do. As I said before act of waiting is the matter of ‘to be or not to be’.  That’s why we cannot leave the tree that we settle under it and all we are waiting for Godot.

One of the Untranslatable Words of English language: Serendipity

“I have nothing better to tell you. Serendipity… You will understand it better by the derivation than by the definition. I once read a silly fairy tale, called ‘The Three Princes of Serendip’ : as their Highness travelled and always making discoveries, by accidents and sagacity, of things which they were not in quest of.”

-Horace Walpole

Word serendipity is defined as finding something good without looking for it. In another saying it is kind of series of unexpected events. This word is also used to mean ‘the randomness of the fate’. In 2004, a British translation company declared ‘serendipity’ one of the ten most difficult English words to translate because of its profound meaning.

Origin of the word ‘serendipity’ is quite interesting. An English writer Horace Walpole invents it on January 28, 1754, in a letter written to Horace Mann. Actually Walpole introduces over 200 words into the English language, but his most famous neologism was serendipity. By writing the word serendipity, Walpole gives one of its most beloved and difficult word to the English language. The word ‘serendipity’ comes from Serendip which is the old name for Sri Lanka.  He credits the word to a fairy tale called ‘The Three Princes of Serendip’. According to the fairy tale, three Persian princes set off to make their fortunes in the island called Serendip. ‘The Three Princes of Serendip’ tells how three princes meet a merchant whose camel has gone missing while travelling through the desert and how they help him to search his camel. Along the way, the princes made various discoveries about the island, and learned things they never expected. In the end their lives are spared by serendipity, and they owe their subsequent occupations to a serendipitous occurrence.

Serendipity is one of my favorite words because it defines the life. Life is not only series of meaningless accidents or coincidences but rather it is various acts that are concluded in a sublime plan like Rumi says “What you seek is seeking you”.  As this word makes one think about the idea that everything that happens has a reason, it is exciting word to think about it. Let the serendipity find you!
